My husband and I returned to the Burns Lake area in 2001 when we decided it would be the place to raise a family. I love that Burns Lake is a community full of supportive and friendly people that believe in their community. I have always loved magazines and decorating shows, and was encouraged by friends and family to turn my passion into a business. I worked towards the goal of working from home by completing my Interior Decorating Certificate by distance education while on my maternity leaves. In 2009 when my youngest child was two, I quit my job and started “Interiors by Jill.” I wanted a flexible schedule so that I could spend more time with my kids and be available to volunteer at their school. I work from home on the shores of Tchesinkut Lake. It is here that my family and I spend time together canoeing, walking, cross country skiing and biking.
The beauty of the area has inspired me to create using layers of coloured glass. Recently the gift boutique area of my home has been transformed into an art glass studio. I love working with colour using paint chips and fabrics; my latest passion for fused glass art as an additional way to work with colour.
